CHICAGO, April 20, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Laura Beth Miller and Janet A. Pioli, two stand-out intellectual property attorneys and shareholders at Brinks Gilson & Lione, have been named by Leading Lawyers to its list of the Top 10 Women Intellectual Property Lawyers in Illinois for 2015.

Miller is a deeply experienced intellectual property litigator whose practice focuses on patent, trade secret, and trademark law. She has expertise in counseling clients on complex commercial issues, including licensing, antitrust, and contract matters affecting business operations, product services, and technology. With more than two decades of trial and arbitration experience, including at the so-called rocket dockets for expedited review of patent challenges and appeals, Miller has a record of success in a range of notable cases. She is a member of Brinks' board of directors and its executive committee, and leads the firm's business development efforts. Pioli's practice encompasses strategic counseling for clients with large patent portfolios, patent clearance and due diligence, patent prosecution supervision, litigation, and advertising review and clearance. She has a large and successful practice of appeals before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office's Patent Trial and Appeal Board and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and has made numerous oral arguments before each. Her practice also includes pro bono appeals at the Federal Circuit to obtain disability benefits for U.S. veterans. Pioli is an active leader in the legal community: she is the secretary of the Federal Circuit Historical Society and is an international delegate from the Licensing Executives Society USA-Canada to that society's international branch. She also serves on the Board of Visitors for Northern Illinois University College of Law and is a member of the board of directors at Brinks.
