INDIANAPOLIS, April 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Spartan Emergency Response ("Spartan"), a business unit of Spartan Motors, Inc. (Nasdaq:SPAR), will offer visitors at the 2015 Fire Department Instructors Conference (FDIC) April 23-25 in Indianapolis, Indiana the opportunity to experience the Company's new Advanced Climate Control (ACC) system. The ACC system from Spartan ER is the company's latest safety and comfort innovation. This Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system will be available for demonstrations outside the exhibit hall on South Street between Lucas Oil Stadium and the Indiana Convention Center. Demonstrations will be conducted during FDIC show hours.
"Safety ranks very high as a key product benefit across all customer segments and we know that a robust HVAC system is vital to enhancing vehicle safety," said Dan Slater, President of Spartan Emergency Response. "Development of the Advanced Climate Control System was completed last year. Our engineering group then conducted extensive performance and durability testing. The Spartan Advanced Climate Control System exceeds our HVAC system performance specifications and reinforces Spartan's leadership in the emergency response market."
The attention to detail sets the Spartan Advanced Climate Control system apart from other HVAC systems. The systems / components integration enables a new performance standard for the industry. All components were tested for corrosion resistance, reliability and compatibility. The Spartan Advanced Climate Control system underwent chamber testing to quantify system performance under extreme, controlled conditions. The system also underwent over 20,000 miles of rigorous on highway testing which encompassed a broad range of conditions, climates and geographies.
Spartan's Advanced Climate Control System boasts a dynamic air velocity that on average is 317 percent higher than the current system. The air flow has been greatly improved for both the front and rear occupants of the cab. Aside from its improved fit / finish and design, the system has consistently achieved a significant improvement in AC cooling performance at the 30-minute and 60-minute intervals.
The Spartan Advanced Climate Control System efficiently heats the entire cab, including the cab floor, without the aid of auxiliary heat or redirection of air flow. Variation of occupant temperature, from the head level to foot level, is consistently held to within a 10 degree envelope while the system is in heat mode.
Maintenance and service on the Spartan Advanced Climate Control System has been simplified with all tasks specified as one-person operations using only standard tools. The system features washable filters which can be easily removed and reinstalled.
