While Palmetto Bluff's first village, Wilson, reflects a polished side of Lowcountry life, Moreland Village will embody an outdoor, active lifestyle with residences and community spaces that blur the lines between indoor and outdoor living. The first phase of Moreland Village spans a 60-acre site housing 92 residential lots. The completed village will consist of 600 acres with 500 home sites. Since Crescent Communities purchased the property in 2000, Palmetto Bluff has had an enormous impact on the surrounding community. Last year, the property generated approximately $260,395 in accommodations tax revenue and $145,185 in food and beverage tax revenue. Palmetto Bluff is estimated to generate $1.13 million in property taxes for Bluffton annually, based on 2014 tax values. Palmetto Bluff also gives back to charitable organizations, donating approximately $140,000 last year to Bluffton-based charities including Backpack Buddies, Family Promise, Bluffton Self Help, and Boys & Girls Clubs of Bluffton.
