VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - May 7, 2015) - On Saturday, May 9, Vancouver doctors will walk the talk as they stride side by side with their patients and local residents along a 2km stretch at Kitsilano Beach while discussing the health benefits that walking provides. This annual kickoff event for the province-wide Walk with your Doc will see more than thirty local physicians and several hundred patients participating.
Respected physician and health columnist Dr Davidicus Wong will emcee the event, with Doctors of BC president Dr Bill Cavers saying a few words. The warm up will be led by the Physiotherapy Association of BC, and each participant will receive a pedometer to keep track of their steps throughout the year.
Now in its sixth year, Walk with your Doc is taking place in 42 communities around the province - an increase of 7 communities over last year. This event connects doctors with their patients in an informal setting outside of their office, confirming their commitment to support their patients to lead a healthier lifestyle one step at a time. These walks demonstrate that people of all ages, no matter their ability, can stay active if they continue to walk.
