SALT LAKE CITY, May 14, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- According to a survey conducted by online shopping site, Overstock.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:OSTK), the majority of female respondents noted they will attend an average of three weddings this year, and are very likely to use a registry when shopping for the gift.
The top-ranked reasons for preferring to shop from a registry were convenience, ease of use, and for gift ideas for the couple. The majority of men surveyed responded that they shipped a gift directly from a retailer to the couple, highlighting the convenience.
When creating a registry on Overstock.com, customers are offered recommendations of top sellers within the site's GiftFinder for wedding, baby, housewarming, graduation, birthday or other special occasions. Overstock.com registries are updated in real-time, allowing gift givers to see exactly what is available for purchase, and what was already purchased, to avoid duplicate gifts. Registry creators have the ability to add or remove items from their registry at any time ensuring that gift givers have in-stock products to purchase in every price range.
Of the 806 survey respondents, 51 percent stated they were married; 74 percent of which noted that they gave gifts to those in their wedding party. Monogrammed products continue to be a trend for wedding party gifts, just as Forbes predicted for 2015 when they stated consumers will expect more customized and personalized products. The average wedding budget is $28,427 according to the Real Weddings Study, and in Manhattan, that figure soars to $76,000 on average.
