PORTSMOUTH, NH--(Marketwired - May 26, 2015) - Q-Centrix announced an agreement in which its healthcare technology and data abstraction services were selected to support the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines® quality improvement program.
The three-year agreement calls for participating hospitals to seamlessly outsource or supplement their data abstraction with Q-Centrix. This will simplify the process hospitals use to input their data collection and analysis for the full suite of Get With The Guidelines inpatient programs for stroke, heart failure, resuscitation, atrial fibrillation and ACTION Registry® GWTG™.
"Hospitals have recognized that when they apply the most up-to-date evidence-based treatment guidelines, patient outcomes improve," explains Milton Silva-Craig, chief executive officer of Q-Centrix. "They want to participate in registries, like Get With The Guidelines, without forfeiting precious resources. The use of Q-Centrix technology by the American Heart Association's quality programs offers a solution that will help hospitals throughout the country eliminate a prominent barrier to participation."
The Get With The Guidelines quality improvement program provides healthcare teams with information, tools and best practices to help ensure that each patient is treated according to the most current research-based guidelines. The foundation of these tools is sophisticated databases, called clinical registries, which provide hospitals with the necessary benchmarking data to assess current care to promote improved quality and improved patient outcomes.
The services offered by Q-Centrix begin with the assignment of a team of highly-qualified quality information specialists with specific Get With The Guidelines expertise. Once assigned, the team will gain access to a predefined number of patient charts to document distinct actions identified in the Get With The Guidelines requirements. The documentation is reviewed by the hospital and then submitted to the American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines Patient Management Tool (PMT) powered by Quintiles, Inc.
"We're fully committed to and aligned with the AHA's vision to improve the quality of cardiovascular patient care," says Silva-Craig.
More than 97 percent of hospitals that consider Q-Centrix as an abstraction partner end up choosing Q-Centrix. The organization has the industry's largest and broadest team of nurse-educated, quality information specialists. Conducting in excess of a million quality data abstractions annually, Q-Centrix has become the preferred quality partner to hundreds of hospitals, providing active surveillance, abstraction, analysis and improvement services.
Eighty three hospitals participating in Get With The Guidelines are already using Q-Centrix services. Among the Get With The Guidelines hospital participants, St Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital, a not-for-profit acute care hospital owned and operated by the Dominican Sisters in Illinois, has found the collaboration to be valuable.
"We've experienced great success using Q-Centrix for GWTG Stroke registry abstraction," said Wendy Barrilleaux, Comprehensive Stroke Services Director at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital. "The additional resources freed our team to take action from the data and truly improve outcomes."
