Total Life Cycle Management Operational Support Tool Named Finalist for Supply Chain Innovation Award by Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals

JOHNSTOWN, Pa., May 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Concurrent Technologies Corporation's (CTC's) innovative Total Life Cycle Management-Operational Support Tool (TLCM-OST), developed for the United States Marine Corps (USMC), has been named as a finalist for the Supply Chain (SC) Innovation Award given by the Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals (CSCMP). The SC Innovation Award spotlights the top players in the supply chain industry.

CTC, under the direction of the United States Marine Corps Logistics Command (MARCORLOGCOM), developed TLCM-OST, a Web-based enterprise decision support tool that enables executive Marine Corps leadership to view information on all weapon systems and equipment at every stage in the product life cycle. This single strategic solution allows leadership to analyze spending and funding requirements, assess mission essential items posture, identify deficiencies, and prepare Congressional testimony.

SC Innovation Award finalists were required to demonstrate excellence, innovation, and return on investment in addressing a significant supply chain challenge. CTC is one of six finalists that will present their case studies at the CSCMP's Annual Conference in San Diego, CA from September 27–29, 2015. The case studies will be evaluated live at the conference by a panel of judges and the winner and runner up will be announced at the closing session on September 30.

"It is an honor that TLCM-OST was chosen as a finalist from over 40 submissions from some of the largest companies in the world," said Edward J. Sheehan, Jr., CTC President & Chief Executive Officer. "This recognition highlights the teamwork and focuses on the development of innovative and cost effective solutions by the USMC and CTC. TLCM-OST has delivered significant cost and time savings and provides the Marine Corps with reliable logistical intelligence that can be accessed instantly from anywhere in the world. It is a privilege to support the preparedness of our nation's Warfighters."

Within the USMC, multiple organizations are responsible for different phases of the equipment life cycle process. Until the early 2000s, no single organization or system provided an enterprise-wide view of logistics and maintenance data. An enterprise-wide view of data enables commanders to efficiently make critical warfighter support decisions.

For decades, Marine Corps leadership at every level had to manually gather, brief, and forward logistical operational information to the next higher headquarters. This daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly rollup of data was labor intensive and time consuming. TLCM-OST introduced an organizational change and a new paradigm of information access within the USMC; Senior Marine Corps Leadership has ready access to enterprise logistics information without it being reviewed and dissected by multiple echelons. TLCM-OST is a single enterprise accepted and trusted source for USMC ground equipment asset visibility, readiness reporting, and operational effectiveness.

MARCORLOGCOM's mission is to provide worldwide, integrated logistics/supply chain and distribution management; maintenance management; and strategic prepositioning capability in support of the operating forces and other supported units to maximize their readiness and sustainability and to support enterprise and program level Total Life Cycle Management.
