CINCINNATI, OH--(Marketwired - Jun 2, 2015) - In January 2001, after receiving her stage three diagnosis, Jamie Hoffpauir heard well-meaning but discouraging stories from breast cancer survivors, especially about fitness and getting back into a routine.
But as a fitness professional, she knew better about the potentially life-saving effects of exercise and didn't allow herself to be defeated. In fact, she used it as an inspiration for developing a better workout top for women undergoing breast cancer treatment that dispelled any discouragement, ultimately creating a new fitness clothing company called pauir (pronounced: Power) athletic apparel.
Hoffpauir created the pauir workout top to accommodate women at any stage of their breast cancer journey based on her experiences and others.
The pauir athletic top differs from other workout tops primarily by giving patients/survivors who suffer from restricted and painful shoulder/arm movement easier access into a top via a front, bottom-to-top zipper; no need to raise arms to struggle into a workout top.
Other features include strong but soft fabric for cancer-sensitive skin, pockets for a prosthesis and flat seams, also easy on sensitive skin. With sizes small to extra-large, all tops are made in the United States.
On average, there are 300,000 female breast cancer diagnoses per year. Studies have confirmed that women with breast cancer who exercise have an improved outcome compared to those who don't, proving that breast cancer patients need support, especially with clothing. pauir athletic apparel aims to provide this to help survivors like Jamie make it to the finish line.
"Regardless of age, fitness level, economic status and even a devastating diagnosis, you have the ability to achieve anything you set your mind to," said Hoffpauir. "Run a marathon. Cycle a century. Develop muscular endurance for everyday tasks and a sculpted body. All are within your reach."
Hoffpauir, the CEO and owner of pauir athletic apparel, has centered the company on the core belief of accomplishing anything by "putting your head down, quit talking and just move...no excuses or restrictions." Hoffpauir's goal is to create a community through this apparel line to support others like herself. The pauir athletic apparel athletic top will serve as a "suit of armor" for those who wear the apparel.
