WEST JORDAN, Utah, June 2, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Naag Tag Inc. (Name at a Glance), a Utah nametag and engraving company, is pleased to announce they have selected their 2015 National Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Scholarship winner.
Founded in 1969, Naag Tag provides businesses and institutions with the fundamentals in employee identification and individual recognition. They offer engraving services specializing in nametags, wall plaques, custom signs, ID badges, and a host of other items.
In addition to their many years of service to their customers, Naag Tag also serves their community and friends as active participants in the efforts to support those with Cystic Fibrosis. Every year, Naag Tag sponsors a BBQ fundraiser to raise awareness for this disease and collect donations for the Utah Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. As an expansion of this event, Naag Tag is pleased to offer their annual Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Scholarship, which is being awarded for the first time in 2015.
The scholarship is designed to raise awareness about those who suffer from Cystic Fibrosis, and this year's applicants were asked to write an essay centered on that topic. The goal for this scholarship is to help students become educated about Cystic Fibrosis, and in turn become future advocates for those affected by the illness.
When asked why the Naag Tag team had chosen to spotlight Cystic Fibrosis for their essay topic, Naag Tag Vice President, Richard Lindeman said, "My son, Enoch Lindeman, was our first child and was born with an extended gut. He was rushed away from us minutes after he was born for a life-saving surgery at another hospital. We left the next morning to see him. We were told the surgery was a success, but that he probably had Cystic Fibrosis. He would spend the next few months in hospitals on the critical edge of surviving. Once home, he would live relatively healthy, but with dozens of medications and hours of treatments each day. Enoch is now 14, he just graduated from 8th grade, winning one of his school's highest honors. While his life has been speckled with hospital visits, organ, and digestive problems, and he continues to fight his disease, most just know him as a very small, but very smart, energetic young man. It has been very meaningful for me to work with a company that has worked so hard to support those with this disease. This scholarship is yet another way Naag Tag has helped spread understanding of CF. It was obvious to me when reading the entries that CF has deeply affected many lives. This year's winner eloquently showed how CF has impacted their life both by the challenges it creates and by the growth that can come by those who work to overcome those challenges every day."
The Naag Tag scholarship team received over 100 essays for this year's contest and personally read every essay submitted. The scholarship winner, Lily Eligator of Chicago, IL, was selected and notified of the award.
The Cystic Fibrosis Awareness Scholarship is offered annually with one $1500 scholarship awarded each year to put toward the winner's tuition and fees. It is awarded each summer with funds distributed for the fall semester cycle.
