TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - June 3, 2015) - Kombat Copper Inc. (TSX VENTURE:KBT) ("Kombat" or the "Company") has received assay results from nine additional holes of its 35 hole diamond drill program. The results observed to date continue to indicate a near-surface mineral resource. The initial 35 drill hole program is now complete and all samples for assay have been submitted to the laboratory and once the results are returned, Kombat will release the full interpretation of the Drilling Program.
Drilling Highlights:
- Hole K15-010 intersected 1.16% Cu and 11.104 g/t Ag over a 19.25m core length
- Hole K15-012 intersected 1.37% Cu and 14.77 g/t Ag over a 8.33m core length including
Full Results can be found in Table 1
Bill Nielsen, President and CEO of Kombat Copper, indicates "the vast majority of the holes being reported are in what is known as the Central Pit area which saw very limited mining at the end of the mine life in 2006-2007. Our results have expanded the known mineralization to the east and west and we are encouraged that this northern mineralized horizon may contribute to future estimates of mineral resources. We will be completing additional work to determine the structural setting of this horizon and its possible relationship to the southern horizon that was extensively mined underground."
Drilling Results to Date
Eight of the nine holes represented in this release have been drilled in the Central Pit area and have expanded this mineralized horizon east and west with indications that the mineralization could be extended a significant distance in either direction with further drilling (See Figure 1).
Hole K15-014 has tested the east end of underground workings on the 2 level where there was a significant gap in past drilling. Additional drilling is required to further define the mineralized zone that was intersected in this hole.
The remaining holes in the drill program have tested selected target areas along the strike length of 1,500 meters between the #1 shaft and to the east beyond #3 shaft where past mining has provided positive indications of near surface copper mineralization (See Figure 2).

Readers are cautioned that the thicknesses and grade from the above intersections are not necessarily representative of potential resource tonnes and grade as there has been insufficient exploration work to define a mineral resource and it is uncertain if further exploration will result in the target being delineated as a mineral resource.
A second phase of drilling will likely be required to attain a sufficient density of data to calculate a compliant mineral resource estimate. The second phase drill program is scheduled to be completed once sufficient funding is in place and the Company will be providing interested parties and shareholders with updates as the results of this second phase drill program become available.
Company Updates
Kombat Copper has begun a spectral logging study with the Geological Survey of Namibia. Spectral logging aims to identify subtle alteration mineral indicators associated with ore zones at the Kombat Mine. The study will encompass the recently completed shallow surface drilling program and samples of archival drill core representing key exploration target areas in the deeper parts of the Mine.
A recent tour through Kombat Mine by the Colorado School of Mines has resulted in significant interest by that institution into doing significant advanced research into further understanding the Kombat Mine and its geological environment. Kombat Copper strongly supports this research work, which the Company believes will contribute to an updated understanding of the geological controls at the mine site.
Kombat Copper has held further meetings with the Namibian Water Corporation Ltd. (Namwater) who are looking to use the Kombat Mine as a significant source of water for the country during the current drought. The Company has presented them with a 3 phase dewatering project that could supply a large, sustained volume of potable water. NamWater have expressed a desire to implement phase 1 of the proposal. This would allow for the commencement of dewatering of the mine infrastructure at little to no cost to Kombat Copper.
QA/QC
Assay QA/QC for these drill holes are checked and verified through the use of blind standards, duplicates and insertion of blind blanks into the sample stream. Initial indications are that the QAQC results are within expected limits. Samples were prepared at ALS Laboratory Namibia (Pty) Ltd and analyzed at ALS Minerals laboratory in Johannesburg, South Africa.
Qualified Person
F. W. Nielsen, P.Geo., President and CEO of Kombat Copper, is a "qualified person" as such term is defined in National Instrument 43-101 and has reviewed and approved the scientific and technical information and has verified the data included in this press release. As the President and CEO of the Company, Mr. Nielsen is not considered independent.
About Kombat Copper
Kombat Copper (TSX VENTURE:KBT) is a publicly traded Canadian exploration and development company with its core operations focused on copper resources in Namibia, one of the world's most prospective copper regions, where it has substantial assets in place with significant upside.
The Company holds an 80% interest in five Mining Licenses in the Otavi Mountainlands, an area of Namibia particularly known for its high-grade copper deposits. Within these licenses are three past-producing mines including the Company's flagship property: the past-producing Kombat Mine. The Kombat Mine's extensive infrastructure includes an 800m production shaft which was opened in 2006, two additional recently-operational shafts, three ramp systems, extensive underground workings, mine buildings, a tailings facility, a mill and concentrator all supported by the Company's local town site. The Kombat Mine opened in 1962 and historically produced 12.46 million tonnes of ore grading 2.62% copper over a period of 45 years. It is linked to vital existing infrastructure, including power, water, roads, and rail with close proximity to the port of Walvis Bay and to one of only five commercial-grade smelters in Africa located in Tsumeb, located 100 road kilometers away from Kombat.
