CHICAGO, June 4, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- MSDSonline, the leading developer of cloud-based environmental, health and safety (EHS) solutions, will host a presentation on managing this year's OSHA Globally Harmonized System (GHS) deadlines at Safety 2015 in Dallas, Texas next week. MSDSonline President and CEO Glenn Trout and VP of Sales Chuck Haling, two of the industry's top GHS experts, will present important compliance information at the annual safety conference hosted by the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE), the world's oldest safety society with more than 35,000 members.
The presentation, titled GHS: 2 Deadlines Hit in 2015. Are you Ready?, will examine what changes have occurred as a result of OSHA's adoption of GHS, and the critical steps safety managers can take now to ensure compliance during the transition process and beyond. The presentation will be held on Monday, June 8 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. CT, and is open to all Safety 2015 attendees.
"We've come to a critical time in the implementation of GHS when safety professionals can no longer afford to ignore the changes resulting from the updates to the Hazard Communication Standard," said Trout. "Everyone working with hazardous chemicals must have a solid understanding of the GHS revisions and be actively managing the transition within their facilities. For now, we can expect that staying in compliance with HazCom will get harder before it gets easier."
Haling added, "Even with two deadlines behind us, many companies are still grappling with GHS compliance. We appreciate the opportunity to continue to educate and help ASSE members through these changes."
The most recent deadline on June 1, 2015, was the date by which manufacturers and many distributors and importers were expected to reclassify chemicals and update all safety data sheets and labels to the new GHS format. With two more deadlines approaching, including the final one on June 1, 2016, the time is now for companies to do all they can in order to be fully GHS compliant.
