NEW YORK, June 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Negotiation Institute is pleased to announce that Cathie Black, New York Times best-selling author and former chairman of Hearst Magazines, will deliver a keynote address at the Women’s Insights on the Art of Negotiating (WIN) Summit on September 30 and October 1, 2015 at the New York Hilton.

Black will join other nationally recognized speakers at this year’s WIN Summit, including keynote presenter Secretary of the U.S. Air Force Deborah Lee James, media and publishing veteran Ellen Archer, and GOOP CEO, Lisa Gersh, to impart their experiences, challenges, and strategies to help women close the gender gap and take their futures into their own hands.
“I’m excited to hear what Cathie Black has learned from the negotiations she’s conducted during her extraordinary career in publishing, politics, and as a member of important corporate and philanthropic boards,” said WIN academic coordinator, Sara Laschever.
For much of her career, Cathie Black has been a “first,” breaking barriers and helping pave the way to create opportunities for the next generation of female media executives. During her 40-plus-year career, Black was president and publisher of USA Today and the first woman publisher of a consumer weekly, New York Magazine. While at Hearst Magazines in New York, Black oversaw major publications such as O, The Oprah Magazine; Cosmopolitan; Food Network Magazine; and Harper’s Bazaar. Most of Black’s publishing career was spent at the very top of the company’s hierarchy, as president, then chairman, of Hearst Magazines. Her book, Basic Black: The Essential Guide for Getting Ahead at Work (and in Life), is a New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller and has been published in 12 countries.
The WIN Summit is a powerful forum dedicated to helping women advance into higher positions of leadership, overcome challenges in the workplace, address the gender wage gap, and achieve greater success for both their organizations and themselves through the art of negotiating. WIN presenters will address various challenges women in the workplace face today, from gender-gap disparities to perceived assumptions that not only hold them back in their careers, but prevent entire corporations from reaching their goals.
