ALEXANDRIA, Va., June 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists (ASCP) has opened registration for the 2015 ASCP Annual Meeting & Exhibition to take place October 30 through November 1, 2015 at the Paris Las Vegas in Las Vegas, Nevada. The meeting theme "expect the unexpected," underscores the changing landscape of the post-acute care industry, and enhancements made by the Society to make this year's conference its best meeting yet—including new speakers and cutting-edge information.
"ASCP Annual" will mix clinical continuing education with ample time for networking with colleagues and industry representatives. Attendees will hear from industry leaders and receive updates on regulatory affairs, new drugs, emerging research, and the Society. The event will begin with a keynote presentation from Zappos Insights Culture Evangelist Jon Wolske. Zappos may manufacture shoes not pharmaceuticals, but they are a $2 billion a year company known for their outstanding culture of customer service and adaptability. Wolske will connect with attendees by discussing the importance of creating a business focused on culture and customer experiences.
A first-ever Post-Acute Care Industry Insiders Panel Discussion led by ASCP CEO Frank Grosso, RPh will bring business experts together to discuss the state of the post-acute care industry. The 2015 Peter P. Lamy Memorial Lecture, ASCP's signature research presentation, will feature Brian Isetts, BSPharm, PhD, BCPS, FAPhA from the University of Minnesota College of Pharmacy and the CMS Innovation Center. Dr. Issetts will cover new frontiers and opportunities in accountable medication use.
ASCP's 46th annual meeting will provide 17 hours of attainable continuing pharmacy education credits as well as 9.5 certified geriatric pharmacy recertification credits. The meeting will be packed with educational sessions from controversies in geriatrics to vaccination in older adults, movement disorders, and alternative approaches to treatment of dementia. The event will host exhibitions from pharmaceutical companies, home health agencies, and other industry representatives. The exhibit hall will also feature a new Innovations Alley for emerging technologies.
ASCP Annual will host a series of social events to allow for networking among attendees, including a Halloween bash and a blackjack themed social. Additionally, on October 29, ASCP will offer a pre-conference workshop for retail pharmacists who want to change their lives in Vegas. The half-day workshop, which is free for annual meeting attendees, is designed for retail pharmacists looking to make a professional change and explore the world of consulting.
