TAIPEI, TAIWAN--(Marketwired - Jul 1, 2015) - BioTaiwan 2015, the annual festival of biotechnology-themed events will be held 22 to 26 of July in Taipei, this year with all events being at one convenient location at the Nangang Exhibition Center. A full schedule of events includes the BioBusiness Asia Conference, the BioTaiwan Exhibition, and a host of workshops, seminars and activities. One conference that makes up an important part of the program every year is the forum focused on ties between Taiwan and China in the life sciences; this year entitled the Conference on Greater China Opportunities, being held on Friday, July 24.
With a growing number of policies being put in place in China specifically to develop the local biomedical industry, and with the emergence of a number of new Free Trade Zones well suited for the location of biomedical enterprises, partnering and cooperation opportunities are rapidly increasing for companies, research facilities and service providers in this industry space. In addition, healthcare sector provisions in China's 13th Five Year Plan due to be announced later in the year are bound to have a strong influence on the direction of the industry and will surely be followed closely by current and future stakeholders.
To understand the ramifications of this Five Year Plan, representatives from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have been invited to this year's conference to give a presentation on how the provisional healthcare industry components of the Plan may affect future market access and cooperation opportunities for companies with an eye on China.
In addition other speakers will be on hand to discuss how to uncover the niche market opportunities that exist in China, and present successful cooperation models and case studies. A number of Chinese financial institutions will be attending the event as session panelists, sharing advice on investment opportunities, market entry and operational challenges from a financial perspective.

Cross-strait industry interaction growing
Much behind the scenes interaction has been taking place since last year's conference. With its goal being to encourage Taiwanese companies to more actively engage with their counterparts in China and to lobby on their behalf, a delegation from the Taiwan-based Trans Regional Biotechnology Association, led by its chairman John Hsuan, recently traveled to Beijing, Shanghai and other locations in China to call on a number of high-level government policy development and regulatory agencies including the State Council Development and Reform Commission, the Chinese Academy of Science, drug regulators the CFDA, and others.
Conference to highlight first-hand experience and successful case studies
From China, the executive chairman of Chinese CRO Crown Bioscience will be speaking on investment trends in China's biotech industry. On the Taiwan side, representatives of Center Laboratories, Swissray Global and A+ Inc., all prominent local companies having achieved success in China, will speak and share their market entry, industry collaboration and regulatory approval experiences.
Secretary General of the Taiwan Bio Industry Organization Dr. Apo Huang is pleased in the modified format of this year's conference.
