CHICAGO, Aug. 11, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The John Marshall Law School in Chicago has named veteran litigator Associate Professor Marc Ginsberg as director of the law school's nationally recognized Center for Advocacy & Dispute Resolution.
Ginsberg has taught evidence, civil procedure and medical negligence at John Marshall since 2009. He joined the John Marshall faculty after a 30-year career as a trial and appellate litigator, during which he primarily represented physicians in medical liability cases.
"His extensive experience as a litigator and expertise in the trial process make Marc perfect for this position," said Anthony Niedwiecki, John Marshall associate dean for Academic Affairs. "Marc will be a strong leader of John Marshall's nationally respected program and will strengthen its curriculum and vision for our students."
In addition to teaching, Ginsberg has coached John Marshall's moot court teams, has served on several committees and helped establish and direct the curriculum involved in the law school's health law certificate program.
Ginsberg takes the helm as John Marshall's trial advocacy program regains its ranking among the best in the country. The 2016 U.S. News & World Report's Best Graduate Schools recently ranked the law school's trial advocacy program No. 16 in the nation.
Ginsberg was valedictorian of his class at John Marshall, where he earned his law degree. He received his bachelor's with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a master's degree from Indiana University, and a master of laws from DePaul University College of Law.
Ginsberg has published articles and given presentations on issues ranging from evidence to informed consent. Most recently, he spoke on informed consent at the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics Health Law Professors Conference in St. Louis. He participated in a discussion on the same topic for the Special Committee on Bioethics & Law at the American Bar Association's Annual Meeting in Chicago.
