HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA--(Marketwired - Aug. 19, 2015) - Canadian Immigrant magazine and Scotiabank are proud to present Halifax's 1st Annual Career, Education & Settlement Fair, in partnership with Fusion Halifax, taking place on Tuesday, Sept. 8 at the World Trade and Convention Centre (1800 Argyle St.).
While this is the first time the fair has been held in the Atlantic Provinces, the innovative event for newcomers to Canada is built upon the successful track record of similar events in Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary over the past five years.
This past June, more than 1,500 Canadian newcomers attended the 5th Annual Career, Education & Settlement Fair in Toronto.
The Halifax fair this September will be tailored to the specific needs of immigrants in the province, including its growing numbers of international students and temporary foreign workers.
"Nova Scotia has one of the highest intakes of temporary workers and international students, and our fair will create a place where immigrants of all types can come to learn about immigration, education and careers in the region," says Sanjay Agnihotri, Group Publisher of Canadian Immigrant, a national magazine that has been a guiding star for newcomers through its print and online publications.

Guided by a local advisory board, the organizers of the Career, Education & Settlement Fair are now calling all interested trade show participants to get involved, including employers, recruiters, immigrant and refugee settlement providers, language schools, educational institutes, immigration law firms and professional associations.
In addition to the trade show of exhibitors, the event will feature an inspirational speakers' program, resume clinic and more!

SPEAKERS' PROGRAM
The speakers' program includes a talk by immigration lawyer Suzanne I. Rix of Cox & Palmer's Halifax office on "Immigration Options to Canada and Nova Scotia." She will discuss the streams of the Nova Scotia Nominee Program, the Federal Express Entry Program and Family Sponsorship options.
There will also be an interactive session by Yania Lucas of British Council-IELTS called "Prepare Better with Road to IELTS," which will help those preparing for the IELTS English test. British Council-IELTS is Associate Sponsor of the Career, Education & Settlement Fair.
Sharlene Rozario, of the Centre for Research in Family Health, will lead a third session, "Job Seeking: Are there things you can do in lieu of just professional experience?" which will focus on some of the most popular strategies like volunteering and networking.
Bruce Smith from Scotiabank will be speaking about "Career Opportunities at Scotiabank" and finally Nic Fieldsend will have a success story to share, which will excite and engage newcomers establish themselves and find success in their new home.
After the Halifax fair, the event will return to Calgary for the second time (Oct. 15) and Vancouver for the 3rd year in a row (Nov. 16).
