DURHAM, N.C., Aug. 23, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- New Hope Animal Hospital announced that Durham native Dr. Rachel Cocchiaro has joined the hospital's veterinary team. Dr. Cocchiaro graduated from the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. Dr. Cocchiaro's primary interests are in internal medicine, pet dermatology and veterinary dentistry. Dr. Cocchiaro joins Durham veterinarians Dr. Soren Windram and Dr. Christine Bush. The veterinarians provide routine and emergency pet care services for Durham and Chapel Hill pets.
Prior to joining New Hope Animal Hospital, Dr. Cocchiaro practiced veterinary medicine in Austin, Texas. The Durham native says that while she enjoyed her time in the Lone Star State, she is "thrilled" to be returning home.
"While I got a wonderful start to my veterinary career in Austin, Texas, I'm a North Carolinian at heart and am very excited to be returning back to the Triangle area," said Dr. Cocchiaro. "I enjoyed working with Dr. Windram, Ann, and Sue 15 years ago as a technician. I'm excited to be joining such a talented, experienced team at New Hope Animal Hospital."
Dr. Cocchiaro is a 2010 graduate of the North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She currently resides with her husband and their family pets in Hillsborough, NC. When not practicing veterinary medicine, she enjoys traveling, running and horseback riding.

Dr. Windram, who founded the animal hospital in 2003, previously practiced at a local emergency and critical care hospital in Durham. He graduated from Michigan State University's College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 after he received his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University.
Durham veterinarian Dr. Christine Bush, a 2002 graduate from the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine, received her undergraduate degree in Chemistry from Duke University.
