Racemi Provides Migration Packages to Upgrade Windows Server 2003 to Cloud

Lifeline for customers left stranded with legacy Windows Server 2003

ATLANTA, Sept. 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- To assist customers with legacy Windows Server 2003 that is no longer supported by Microsoft, Racemi has introduced fixed price packages for upgrading and migrating Windows Server 2003 servers to either Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012 R2 and the choice of Amazon Web Services (AWS) or SoftLayer cloud.

"We're extending a lifeline by upgrading the legacy servers to more modern Windows Server platforms while taking advantage of cloud computing," said James Strayer, vice president of product management, Racemi.

The initial step is a Pre-Upgrade Assessment Services package for $199 to identify Windows Server 2003 workloads, then determine if those are suitable candidates for upgrade and migration to the cloud, while taking into consideration how to minimize service disruption.

After the assessment, there are basic packages for customers to choose from:

- Single Server Application Migration Package for workloads hosted on individual physical or virtual Windows 2003 servers, which are upgraded using Racemi's DynaCenter automation software to either Windows Server 2008 R2 or 2012 R2, then migrated to either AWS or SoftLayer. Once updated and migrated, Racemi will help validate that the move was successful and assist by updating Domain Name System (DNS) records to complete the workload cut over. Pricing starts at $699 per workload for upgrading and migrating the workload to a cloud.

- Multi-server Application Migration Package for applications and workloads that are distributed across multiple servers. Racemi will help discover the components of the application, then upgrade the workloads to Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 and migrate those to AWS or SoftLayer. The final steps are setting up the networking so that the application functions correctly, along with validation testing and final cut over of the application. Pricing starts at $1,199 per workload for upgrading and migrating the workload to a cloud.

For the fixed price packages, there is a limit of 25 servers per customer. More information is available at www.racemi.com/w2k3.

There are other special small- and medium-sized businesses packages that do not include upgrading to Windows Server 2008 or 2012, such as a Single Server Application Migration Package priced at $499 and Multi-server Application Migration Package at $999.

For more sophisticated application configurations including cluster servers, external load balancing, SAN data, and other advanced configurations, Racemi will provide customized pricing.

Racemi's DynaCenter software enables businesses to move server workloads in an automated, secure, and reliable way. DynaCenter captures the entire server stack - operating system, applications, network, and storage configuration - and then transforms the workload in flight to run on the selected cloud platform by applying the necessary tools and drivers during the migration process. This ensures existing workloads are migrated in their time-tested configuration, resulting in improved reliability and reduced support requirements. There is no infrastructure to deploy or maintain on the customer's site and key features such as Live Capture ensure there is no server downtime.
