LOS ANGELES, Sept. 1, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Century Veterinary Group announced that the practice will join the "More Than A Cone Art Festival," a fundraising benefit designed to help animals in need. The festival event raises awareness about pet adoption, wellness and recovery. Fundraising efforts benefit animals in need. "More Than a Cone" invites artists to transform the "cone of shame" in order to raise awareness about pet adoption, wellness and recovery. Actress Judy Greer hosts this year's festival.
The "More Than a Cone Art Festival" will take place on Friday, September 11th from 7pm-11pm at the Autry in Los Angeles, California. Tickets may be purchased through the organization's website.

The festival aims to spotlight animal welfare issues through the arts as a way to better engage and inform the public. The festival's name, "More Than a Cone" comes from the medical cone device that animals wear after surgery or following an injury. While cones can help animals heal, they are often misunderstood by the public and culturally known as the "cone of shame."
Artists start with the cone and draw inspiration from it and reinterpret it in various art forms. A full gallery of the art is available for viewing on the festival's website.
The event includes the art exhibit and a silent auction, as well as live mural painting by members of the Seventh Letter and Bill Rangel's "Cone Couture" runway show featuring the Aston Models.
"The festival's goal is to change attitudes about the cone and raise awareness about animal welfare," said Dr. Werber. "The cone is an example of how public perception can turn an object that's useful and important for animal welfare into an object of shame and vilification. All too often shelter animals or rescue animals can suffer from a similar stigma. This festival is designed to change public perception and raise awareness about animal welfare and adoption."
