Tamron Announces 35mm f/1.8 and 45mm f/1.8 Full-Frame Lenses With Vibration Compensation, More Info: B&H

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - September 02, 2015) - B&H Photo is pleased to share the announcement of the Tamron SP 35mm f/1.8 Di VC USD and SP 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD lenses, the first two lenses in the newly-redesigned SP Series. Both lenses feature Vibration Compensation on the Canon and Nikon mounts to help reduce the appearance of camera shake and -- along with the f/1.8 maximum aperture -- allow for excellent low-light imaging. While both lenses are designed for full-frame cameras, they can also be used on crop sensors where the 35mm will yield a 52.5mm equivalent on Nikon and Sony cameras and a 56mm equivalent on Canon cameras. The 45mm lens has a 67.5mm equivalent on Nikon and Sony cameras, and a 72mm equivalent on Canon.

The Tamron 35mm f/1.8 lens implements two molded-glass aspherical elements, one Low Dispersion, and one Extra Low Dispersion element. This lens construction helps minimize distortion, aberrations, and lens flare. A minimum focusing distance of 7.9" yields a magnification ratio of 1:2.5, allowing for close-up work. An Ultrasonic Silent Drive ring-type motor enables fast and quiet autofocus, with an automatic manual focus override available at any time. eBAND and BBAR coatings reduce reflection, ghosting, and flare while maximizing light transmission. The front element of the lens has a fluorine coating to repel liquid and reduce fingerprints and smudges. Moisture-resistant seals are integrated throughout the lens for shooting in adverse conditions. A rounded 9-blade diaphragm provides smooth circular out-of-focus highlights. The lens stops down from f/1.8 to f/16, weighs approximately one pound, and is available in Canon EF, Nikon F, and Sony A mounts.

The Tamron 45mm f/1.8 Di VC USD lens benefits from many of the same features as the 35mm, though it sees a slightly different construction with two molded glass aspherical elements and one LD element. It also has a slightly longer minimum focus distance of 11.4" with a magnification ratio of 1:3.4. It is also available in Canon EF, Nikon F, and Sony A mounts.
