NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - September 08, 2015) - As a reflection of Influenster’s commitment towards female empowerment in the tech industry, the firm is granting Influenster Code Like A Girl Scholarships to five undergraduate/graduate female students who display outstanding achievement and potential in the STEM fields. United Charitable Programs is a proud fiscal sponsor of the scholarship program.
Influenster knows first-hand just how digitally-savvy female consumers are (90% of its 1.5MM+ member community is female) and looks to support and inspire women's efforts across the STEM field. Women have distinct and valuable perspectives to lend to the tech industry, yet they still make up less than 30% of the tech workforce.
"This scholarship program speaks to our core values of encouraging discovery and conversations -- we hope to bring awareness to the shortage of female developers and programmers in the tech industry, get people talking, and encourage more girls to pursue careers as developers. It is important to have both the male and female perspectives when building tech products," said Elizabeth Scherle, President and Co-Founder at Influenster.
Qualification criteria:
- Lawful authorization to work on a full-time basis in the United States without any form of sponsorship.
- Full-time enrollment in your third, fourth, or fifth year as of the Fall 2015 semester. Those who are not full-time students (i.e. not taking a full course load or will be taking on a co-op opportunity) are not eligible for the scholarship.
