Photo Release -- Clinton National Airport Continues to Provide the Fastest, Free Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi at Little Rock is the Fastest of Any Airport in the Nation Despite Another's Claim

LITTLE ROCK, Ark., Sept. 17, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas remains the leader in offering the fastest, free Wi-Fi available in any airport within the United States.  Speed testing shows that Wi-Fi at Clinton National reaches 60 megabits per second (Mbps), per device for both download and upload.  The Little Rock airport upgraded its service from 50 Mbps after a much larger airport located in the Ohio Valley recently proclaimed to have the fastest Wi-Fi in the country at 40 Mbps, which at the time of the announcement was 25% slower than the speed offered in Little Rock.

Initial improvements in November 2014 positioned Clinton National to have the fastest service, a position it has retained by providing increases on a regular basis. However, technology improvements at the airport, which has approximately two million passengers annually, have not received the level of attention as compared to much larger airports whose speeds are not comparable.

"We believe that it is extremely important to let our passengers and industry know that Clinton National Airport is committed to providing an outstanding airport experience,"  Executive Director Ronald F. Mathieu said.  "The Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission, our governing body, continues to make significant investments to ensure the airport offers the best overall customer service enhancements, including technology."

Wi-Fi speeds at Clinton National are a result of a symmetrical one gigabit internet service by the Little Rock Municipal Airport Commission. Passengers may enjoy this free service without watching any advertisements, being constrained by time limits or having user data collected.  In addition, further Wi-Fi upgrades are planned as part of an upcoming concourse renovation project, a $20.6 million initiative that will provide the concourse with a modernized interior along with additional comfort and convenience, such as new seating with power outlets included and new jet bridges.
