CHICAGO, Sept. 30, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- More than 286,800 people in Illinois are impacted by infertility. The first annual Chicagoland Walk of Hope aims to help by raising support for programs and services to serve those with infertility. The community event will be held October 4th in Orland Park. The goal of the Walk of Hope is simple – walk one morning one mile to raise money and unite one community.
The RESOLVE Walk of Hope represents the infertility journey, a series of small steps, each one filled with hope. The event recognizes the various ways that families are built, and raises understanding for how infertility affects families nationwide.
Created by RESOLVE, a non-profit organization whose goal is to promote reproductive health and to ensure equal access to family building options for those experiencing infertility, the Walk of Hope is held at several locations throughout the country. The funds raised during the event will go to support RESOLVE's efforts in providing support groups, information, public awareness initiatives and advocacy efforts to ensure that family building options are available for all who need them.
Dr. Jennifer Hirshfeld-Cytron, a reproductive endocrinologist at Fertility Centers of Illinois, hopes the event will raise awareness and give encouragement. "For many, struggling with infertility is not easy," she says. "We want people to know that they are not alone in their journey, and that there is support and help available."
"The committed volunteers of the Chicagoland area and hundreds of walkers will walk together to symbolize the infertility journey," says RESOLVE President/CEO Barbara Collura. "RESOLVE exists so no one with infertility walks alone."
