Aegex Intrinsically Safe Tablets Enhance Disaster Training

PERRY, GA--(Marketwired - October 01, 2015) - During a national-level disaster training event this week, Aegex Technologies is demonstrating that utilizing intrinsically safe tablets in highly explosive areas of emergency situations enhances first responders' performance.

Aegex tablets are being used by teams of first responders at the Guardian Centers training facility, Sept. 30-Oct. 2, to capture and transmit real-time data, even from explosive zones where traditional mobile devices cannot be used due to risk of spark. Unlike most mobile communications technologies, Aegex tablets are intrinsically safe, meaning they are incapable of producing a spark that could ignite a fire or explosion.

"We are taking the same technology that we use for hazardous locations in the oil and gas industry and providing it to individuals charged with protecting the public in times of disaster," said Thomas Ventulett, CEO of Aegex. During the exercises, first responder teams are using Aegex tablets to:

• Collect and transmit GIS-based data, enhancing situational awareness
• Monitor victim health, improving incident response
• Organize real-time triage, providing dynamic care
• Manage hazardous material, furthering efficacy of safety plans

Other uses of Aegex tablets include streaming live video by Dreamhammer Drones in simulated disaster zones, such as flooded houses and streets where first responders practice rescuing actor victims.

Aegex tablets are also running health monitoring software by Global Emergency Resources (GER) that records actor victims' vital signs and other health data and reports it in real time to a command and control center. Aegex is working with GER on creating an emergency deployable network, which will provide Internet service for the tablets and other communications technology when normal service has been damaged or destroyed in a disaster. This network allows for real-time communication across the entire disaster training facility.

Additionally, Aegex tablets are bringing COBRA incident command software from the command center into the hands of first responders in the field for on-the-ground, real-time management of each step of disaster response.

Aegex intrinsically safe tablets run Windows 10 and other customizable enterprise-grade applications. They are fully configurable for public safety teams and include embedded applications such as man-down emergency alert and personnel tracking.
