KANSAS CITY, Mo., Oct. 29, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- What:
The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA), a Kansas City based non-profit governing body of intercollegiate athletics, will host the third annual Champions of Character Foundation Awards Luncheon. The Champions of Character program helps participants find the balance by keeping five core values – integrity, respect, responsibility, sportsmanship and servant leadership – at the heart of the collegiate athletic experience.
Kansas City Royals Senior Vice President for Baseball Operations/General Manager Dayton Moore serves as the event's keynote speaker. Additionally, five awards will be given to local individuals – High School Student-Athlete of Character, Coach of Character, Citizen of Character, Company of Character and Collegiate Student-Athlete of Character.

The Champions of Character Foundation Awards Luncheon celebrates the character values of those who make a difference in the culture of sport and in our community. The NAIA will honor five award winners; high school student-athlete of the year, collegiate student-athlete of the year, citizen of character, company of character and coach of character. Last year, the Champions of Character Foundation Awards Luncheon raised nearly $200,000 and had more than 700 people in attendance. Resources from the event are used to support character activities such as the NAIA's Live5 program, which is an online character training course for college student-athletes.
