HOUSTON, TX--(Marketwired - Nov 4, 2015) - Dr. Jason Griffith, infertility specialist and Practice Director at Houston Fertility Institute (HFI), has been awarded the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award. One of the highest individual awards of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award is awarded to the ASRM member "who as a practicing physician best demonstrated the ideals of compassionate and respectful care for a patient's physical and emotional well-being."
According to the ASRM, Dr. Griffith was selected for this distinguished award because, as stated in a letter of nomination, "he has been a champion of our legislative initiatives and works to ignite patients and the media in Texas to recognize the importance of advocating for infertility issues." The ASRM added "It is clear from the testimonials from his patients that helping patients cope with infertility is more than a job but a calling for Dr. Griffith."
Dr. Craig Witz, HFI Director of Clinical Research, says Dr. Griffith is "highly deserving of this award."
"Beyond being an outstanding fertility doctor, Dr. Griffith is a valued community resource," says Dr. Witz. "He is often consulted for pediatric gynecologic care. In addition, Dr. Griffith regularly attends the hospital tumor board to provide a voice for fertility preservation in cancer patients. He does this on his own time knowing that this vulnerable patient population usually has limited funding."
Dr. Griffith has on multiple occasions traveled on personal time to Washington D.C. advocating for legislation addressing important infertility issues. In May of 2015 he accompanied breast cancer survivor Dana Clark to gain support of infertility issues as part of RESOLVE's national Advocacy Day.
A fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Dr. Griffith is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology as well as reproductive endocrinology-infertility. He primarily cares for patients through HFI's office in The Woodlands.
Leaders in the field of reproductive medicine, HFI provides a wide range of fertility treatments and services including in-vitro fertilization, intrauterine (artificial) insemination, and egg freezing for fertility preservation as well as tubal and vasectomy reversal, endometriosis fertility treatment and more through 12 locations in Texas.
