| WHAT: | - Launch of ACT High School CPR and Defibrillator Program in School District No. 68 Nanaimo-Ladysmith. - Every year, 1,100 students from the seven public secondary schools will learn how to use a defibrillator in addition to CPR skills. Schools will also receive a defibrillator for on-site cardiac emergencies. - Event will feature dynamic demonstrations of students taking action in cardiac arrest emergencies. - The ACT Foundation is the charitable organization that is establishing free CPR and defibrillator training programs in secondary schools across Canada. In British Columbia, the ACT Foundation is working with provincial partner BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS) and paramedics to bring this program to secondary schools. The ACT Foundation finds partners to donate the mannequins and AED training units to schools to enable teachers to train students. |
