CHICAGO, Nov. 12, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The American College of Prosthodontists (ACP) has elected new officers to its Board of Directors for a one-year term. During the 45th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists in Orlando from Oct. 21-24, 2015, six board certified Prosthodontists were sworn in as officers of the College.
Carl F. Driscoll, DMD, FACP, (pictured left) will be installed as 2015-16 president; Susan E. Brackett, DDS, MS, FACP, will be installed as president-elect; Robert M. Taft, DDS, FACP, will be installed as vice president; Julie A. Holloway, DDS, MS, FACP, will be re-installed as treasurer; and Carol A. Lefebvre, DDS, MS, FACP, will be re-installed as secretary. Frank J. Tuminelli, DMD, FACP, (pictured right) will continue as an officer of the College in 2015-16 as the ACP immediate past president.
Dr. Carl F. Driscoll, ACP President, is a professor and director of the Prosthodontic Residency program at the University of Maryland Dental School. He is past president of the American Board of Prosthodontics and the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. Dr. Driscoll was chair of the 44th Annual Session of the American College of Prosthodontists. As an ACP Spokespersons Network member, Dr. Driscoll has appeared on Fox 45 Baltimore.
Dr. Susan E. "Betsy" Brackett, ACP President-Elect, is in private practice in Oklahoma City, Okla. She previously was director of the ACP Public Relations and Communications Division and ACP secretary. Dr. Brackett is a co-author of an award-winning textbook, Fundamentals of Tooth Preparation, and the Fundamentals of Fixed Prosthodontics, third edition. Dr. Brackett is the recipient of the ACP Education Foundation's Highest Honor. Dr. Brackett is featured in ACP's cosmetic dentistry video about dental implants.
Capt. Robert Taft, ACP Vice President, served as Dean of the Naval Postgraduate Dental School and Specialty Leader to the Surgeon General for Postgraduate Dental Education from June 2006 to June 2011, Deputy Chief, United States Navy Dental Corps from June 2011 to June 2013 and is currently Department Chair, Prosthodontics, and Naval Postgraduate Dental School. Captain Taft also served as the Maxillofacial Director for the ACP Board of Directors.
Dr. Julie Holloway, ACP Treasurer, is professor and head of the Department of Prosthodontics at the University of Iowa College of Dentistry. In addition to serving as treasurer, she is immediate past president of the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics. She has served as editor of the ACP Board Preparation Study Guide. Dr. Carol Lefebvre, ACP Secretary, is the dean of Georgia Regents University College of Dental Medicine. She also is a professor in the Oral Rehabilitation and Oral Biology departments in the College of Dental Medicine and the College of Graduate Studies. She has been an ACP member for over 30 years and is a member of the ACP Judicial Committee.
Dr. Frank J. Tuminelli, ACP Immediate Past President, is in private practice in Great Neck, New York. He has served as a member of the ACP Board of Directors for over 10 years and is an ACP Fellow. As a member of the ACP Spokespersons Network, Dr. Tuminelli has been featured in USA Today, Inside Dentistry, and Newsday as well as in this ACP Digital Dentistry video. During his tenure as president, the Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) passed new standards for Advanced Education Programs in Prosthodontics and the ACPEF was awarded $1.25 million by Henry Schein to develop a Digital Dentistry Curriculum.
