WASHINGTON, Nov. 18, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Louis Berger was awarded a $7.5 million, five-year engineering and design contract by the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC) to upgrade water and wastewater systems in Prince George's County and Montgomery County in Maryland. The contract includes $4.5 million for a base term of three years followed by a two-year option at $3 million.
"Rehabilitating the region's water and wastewater facilities to extend their overall lifespan is a critical priority for WSSC, and we remain dedicated to the WSSC's mission of delivering safe, clean and reliable water," said Anwer Hasan, Louis Berger senior vice president.
Under this contract, Louis Berger will prepare hydraulic analyses of water and sewer pipeline systems and provide technical engineering design services for pipelines, pump stations and storage tanks. Louis Berger will also perform surveying, traffic control and utility markings in support of water main replacement design efforts and provide studies and reports related to water main replacement projects.
Louis Berger, which has a significant presence in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and in Maryland, has had four previous contracts with WSSC to improve water and wastewater services in these two counties. This is the firm's second design contract with WSSC. The firm's association with WSSC began in 2008 with construction and management services for the $146 million bi-county water tunnel project in Maryland.
