John Marshall Professor Named Professor-Reporter of Illinois Supreme Court Committee

The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Associate Professor Marc Ginsberg of The John Marshall Law School in Chicago as Professor-Reporter of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Illinois Evidence.

CHICAGO, Nov. 19, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Illinois Supreme Court has appointed Associate Professor Marc Ginsberg of The John Marshall Law School in Chicago as Professor-Reporter of the Illinois Supreme Court Committee on Illinois Evidence.

Ginsberg's appointment continues a long tenure of John Marshall representation on the Evidence Committee. Ginsberg will serve a one-year term expiring on Dec. 31, 2016. He previously served four one-year terms as Professor-Reporter to the Illinois Judicial Conference Committee on Discovery Procedures. He also served a one-year term as Professor-Reporter to the Illinois Judicial Conference Committee on Civil Justice.

Ginsberg has taught evidence, civil procedure and medical negligence at John Marshall since 2009. He joined the John Marshall faculty after a 30-year career as a trial and appellate litigator, during which he primarily represented physicians in medical liability cases.

A John Marshall professor has served as Professor-Reporter of the Evidence Committee for nearly a decade. Ginsberg replaces retired Associate Dean of Academic Affairs Ralph Ruebner, who held the committee position since at least 2008.

In August 2015, Ginsberg took the helm of John Marshall's trial advocacy program as it regained its ranking among the best in the country. The U.S. News & World Report's Best Graduate Schools recently ranked the law school's trial advocacy program No. 16 in the nation.

In addition to teaching, Ginsberg has coached John Marshall's moot court teams, has served on several committees and helped establish and direct the curriculum involved in the law school's health law certificate program.

Ginsberg was valedictorian of his class at John Marshall, where he earned his law degree. He received his bachelor's with honors from the University of Illinois at Chicago, a master's degree from Indiana University, and a master of laws from DePaul University College of Law.
