ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - Jan 11, 2016) - Speedemissions, Inc. (
While there are several revisions to the Company's prior site, two major benefits of the new site are:
- the myVehicleRecalls.com Vehicle Database, which has over 5,600 automobiles sorted by make, model and year, and;
- the myVehicleRecalls.com Data File, which provides recall data going back to model year 1996, thereby giving consumers a 20-year window of information about their car. This is of particular value, as the average car on the road today is 11.5 years old
"After several months of tracking dozens of news stories about the auto industry, car owners should be very concerned about the safety of the car they drive," stated Rich Parlontieri, CEO/President of Speedemissions.
A disturbing note when it comes to Technical Service Bulletins is that neither dealers nor automobile manufacturers are required to notify the car owner of any TSB's issued. Also, as a matter of protocol, independent auto repair shops don't receive TSB's directly from the manufacturer. It's estimated that over 10,000 TSB's are issued yearly in the U.S. Much like safety recall notices, TSB's identify important problems with automobile components such as anti-lock brakes, automatic transmission, cooling system, cruise control, fuel system and etc. all of which could possibly mean the difference between a safe or unsafe vehicle. And, just maybe, 'peace of mind.'
The myVehicleRecalls.com site also allows users to:
- Open and print their report from browsers
- Save vehicles to their account
- View and resend reports on saved vehicles
- Purchase the "New Alert" feature which notifies consumers if a new recall on a saved vehicle has been issued
In addition, this new website offers three different ways to learn about what is going on with a vehicle: a Recalls Found Report, a TSB's Report and a combined Recall +TSB Report.
There are 254.7 million cars, pick-up trucks, SUV's and minivans on the highways in the U.S. and approximately 110 million safety recalls have occurred since January 2014. To further understand the auto safety problem, industry experts estimate that 60 million cars on the road today have a recall notice that has not yet been fixed. With over 42 million used cars being sold 2014, there is a healthy reason for concern about automobile safety.
