SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Jan 21, 2016) - Vlocity, the Industry Cloud Apps company, has teamed with WoodGreen Community Services and Deloitte to deploy a new app to help the City of Toronto assist international refugees arriving in the Toronto area. As part of the City of Toronto's Refugee Resettlement Program, this week WoodGreen Community Services launched a website known as H.O.M.E. (Housing Opportunities and Marketplace Exchange) to match Syrian refugees with housing, goods and services from individual and corporate donors.
The H.O.M.E. website is powered by a new cloud application from Vlocity Public Sector. In less than four weeks, Vlocity enabled WoodGreen and implementation partner Deloitte LLP to deliver the website that matches Syrian refugees with housing, jobs, furniture, clothes, and other services donated by individuals and businesses. The Vlocity software enabled rapid deployment, a critical factor given the recent influx of Syrian refugees entering Canada. The Canadian government projects it will receive 25,000 Syrian refugees by the end of March.
Refugees, sponsors, landlords or donors can access H.O.M.E online at http://www.woodgreen.org.
"You can help new Torontonians feel welcome and settle quickly into their new home by visiting this website and donating items like furniture, clothes or housing," said Mayor John Tory in a City of Toronto press release. "Our response is the best demonstration of what Toronto represents as a city. I am proud of how we have come together to open our arms and welcome our new residents."
"The H.O.M.E. portal is an incredible example of a private-public sector partnership resulting in a fantastic tool that will ease the settlement process for refugees who have already faced great hardships," said Ian Tait, Partner at Deloitte. "Deloitte and our partners, the Konrad Group and Vlocity, are thrilled we were able to help develop the H.O.M.E. portal and provide support for the new members of the Toronto community."
Vlocity's modern and easy-to-use application guides sponsors, donors and refugees through the process of enrolling to use the H.O.M.E. site. Once enrolled, donors use the password-protected portal to list available housing and other forms of assistance, including posting images. Refugees and their sponsors can search and filter through the available offerings to identify those items that best meet their needs and connect with donors.
"Vlocity is honored to be able to work with the City of Toronto and WoodGreen Community Services to assist these new arrivals into Canada," said Dan Israel, Vice President and General Manager, Vlocity Public Sector. "Our industry-specific applications allowed us to move quickly to address these timely needs. Vlocity is proud to invest in the communities where we work and live. We encourage and enable our people, and our technology, to have positive social impact."
Vlocity provided software under the company's core value, "We Give Back." Deloitte LLP provided implementation and project management services. Deloitte, one of Canada's leading professional services firms, provides audit, tax, consulting, and financial advisory services.
