BC Hydro, Telus Lead BCBusiness List of B.C.'s Top Brands

BURNABY, BC--(Marketwired - January 26, 2016) - BCBusiness Editor-in-Chief Matt O'Grady is excited to announce the third annual ranking of B.C.'s top brands. Developed in concert with Ipsos, this year's list ranks 65 B.C.-based brands on the influence and love they have with B.C. residents.

"This survey measures not just the impact a particular brand has on our day-to-day lives, but also the kind of affection we have for that brand," says O'Grady. "The most influential brands were dominated by institutional names, while the most loved brands were primarily consumer-facing ones, such as retailers and restaurants." Ipsos vice-president for Western Canada, Michael Rodenburgh, adds: "Brand love is highly correlated with commercial activity, whereas influence seems to be more reflective of the relationship somebody has with a brand."

Five brands -- BC Hydro, Telus, Save-on-Foods, London Drugs and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) -- managed the hard-to-accomplish feat of cracking the top 10 of both lists.
