TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - Jan. 27, 2016) - Massey College and University of Toronto are pleased to announce the addition of a new Fellowship under the umbrella program, the William Southam Journalism Fellowships. Named the McLaughlin Centre Journalism Fellowship for a science journalist and funded by the McLaughlin Centre, application for this fellowship is open to experienced journalists who have worked in the fields of science, medicine and/or health for at least five years. Run in tandem with the Southam Fellowships, the same conditions apply while stated interest in the McLaughlin Centre Fellowship may be made in the required 'statement of experience'.
We are now accepting applications for all Journalism Fellowships for the academic year starting September 6, 2016 and ending April 30, 2017 and also the Arthur Burns Journalism Fellowship for an exchange stay in Germany for August and September for applicants under the age of 40. The deadline for applying for all Journalism Fellowships is March 1, 2016.
For the William Southam Fellowships (including the newly-announced McLaughlin Centre Fellowship), applications are invited from experienced journalists who have at least five years' experience as full-time journalists or editorial employees with a Canadian newspaper, news service, radio station, television station, or magazine. Freelance journalists who have been working consistently in the media for over a five-year period will also be considered. Three or more Fellowships are awarded annually, tenable for one academic year, September to May at the University of Toronto. Fellows are free to enrol in any graduate or undergraduate courses while using the full facilities of the University and Massey College. There are no educational prerequisites for a Fellowship; nor do Fellows receive credits or degrees for work done during the year.
Applications must include:
- statement of experience;
- proposal for a plan of study;
- cv.,
- 3 letters of reference;
- A maximum of 3 samples of work (preferably in print) will also be accepted but are not mandatory
