The report opens by stating disruption is accelerating in this market, with more demand for broad solutions that address multiple types of data and offer distributed processing and repository options.

The positioning of MemSQL as a Visionary in this report comes less than six months after the company's debut on the Visionaries Quadrant of the 2015 Magic Quadrant for Operational Database Management Systems2.

"Enterprises seek new solutions for concurrent data processing and analytics, which cannot be achieved with a separate database and data warehouse," said Eric Frenkiel, CEO and co-founder, MemSQL. "We're helping companies meet this challenge head on and transform into digital enterprises by combining real-time streaming, database, and data warehouse workloads into a single platform. We believe the recognition we have received from Gartner across two distinct Magic Quadrants validates the modern approach we bring to an industry dominated by decades old incumbents."

In the report, Mark Beyer and Roxane Edjlali also state, "Organizations now require data management solutions for analytics that are capable of managing and processing internal and external data of diverse types in diverse formats, in combination with data from traditional internal sources. Data may even include interaction and observational data -- from Internet of Things sensors, for example. This requirement is placing new demands on software in this market as customers are looking for features and functions that represent a significant augmentation of existing enterprise data warehouse strategies."

Predictive analytics are the new baseline for enterprises competing in today's on-demand economy. With its in-memory rowstore and disk-based columnstore, MemSQL provides a robust yet flexible database platform for companies to run analytics on changing datasets and scale a growing consumer base. MemSQL also recently launched Streamliner, an integrated Apache Spark solution to create data pipelines and give enterprises immediate access to real-time analytics. Enterprises can use these streaming data pipelines to power applications, enable predictive analytics, and stay one step ahead of the competition.
