LG Brings an Unlocked Version of the G5, Its First-Ever Modular Smartphone, to B&H

Innovative design aside, the G5 features a number of flagship-worthy specs that are sure to please fans of the series, and solidify its stake as one of the top new smartphones of 2016.

At the top of that list is the G5's vivid 5.3" QHD IPS display with an always-on mode that continuously displays time, date, and notification data, even when the G5 is in sleep mode -- at no significant cost to the battery. Another touted display feature is the newly-added Daylight Mode, which improves the G5's outdoor visibility beyond that of conventional auto-brightness technology. The aesthetic design quality of the G5's screen is also a big plus, thanks to the sleek look of its 3D Arc Glass display, which complements the phone's overall seamless unibody look.

The G5 isn't just a pretty face with some flashy customizability options. It boasts an impressive lens array that includes a dual rear-camera setup (à la the popular dual-lens camera seen in the LG V10). The rear setup includes a 16MP standard Field of View (FoV) shooter and an 8MP extreme, wide-angle lens. The wide-angle sensor offers a 135-degree FoV, which is 15 degrees wider than what the human eye can see, and one of the widest available lenses on the market. An 8MP front-facing camera is also on board, as well as an entire suite of photo-editing effects to help photogs create the perfect shot. 

There's plenty going on beneath the G5's hood, as well. It's equipped with the powerful and energy-efficient Snapdragon 820 chipset, with 4GB of RAM in support. 32GB of storage is built in, and there's a microSD card slot for increasing storage capacity up to 2TB. At 2800mAh, the G5's slide-out battery is somewhat on the smaller side, but thanks to the newly added Low Power Location Estimation technology, overall usage life isn't an issue. Even better, the battery is removable, which is a huge plus to consumers who don't enjoy being beholden to the more prevalent non-removable design. Since the G5 is brand new, it will run Android 6.0 Marshmallow right out of the box, allowing it to integrate seamlessly with the entire suite of Google applications, including Chrome, Gmail, Google Drive, and more.
