MAYNARD, MA--(Marketwired - Mar 18, 2016) - Acacia Communications, a leading provider of high-speed coherent optical interconnect products, today announced that it has shipped over 13,000 coherent modules in its AC100-CFP product family. Acacia released each of the coherent CFP modules in its AC100-CFP product family in 2014 and began shipping in September 2014. In supporting the production ramp for its coherent CFP modules, Acacia qualified additional contract manufacturers beyond those that it had initially qualified.
Optimized for metro and inter-data center applications, Acacia's coherent CFP modules offer the benefits of pluggability and improved line card density compared to the board mounted solutions that were previously available for coherent modules. With a rich feature set, including OTN framing and soft decision FEC, Acacia's coherent CFP modules enable cost effective system architectures. By internally developing both the power saving DSP technology and silicon photonic integrated circuit (PIC) technologies, Acacia has been able to optimize the balance of power and performance. In addition to metro DWDM applications, Acacia's coherent CFP modules can also be configured to support 80km ZR links. Recently, Acacia has started sampling a new version of its AC100-CFP, which offers higher performance for long haul links and colorless multiplexing applications.
"Our ability to ramp production of our coherent CFP modules to commercial scale is a validation of the investment that Acacia has made in DSP and silicon photonics technologies," said Acacia Communications founder and CTO Benny Mikkelsen. "Our AC100-CFP product family supports 100 Gbps transmission speeds in a pluggable CFP form factor that has been widely adopted in the industry. Acacia was able to deliver its CFP solution to more than 15 customers in 2015."
About Acacia Communications
Acacia Communications develops, manufactures and sells high-speed coherent optical interconnect products that are designed to transform communications networks through improvements in performance, capacity and cost. By converting optical interconnect technology to a silicon-based technology, a process Acacia refers to as the "siliconization of optical interconnect," Acacia is able to offer products that meet the needs of cloud and service provider customers in a simple, open, high-performance form factor that can be easily integrated in a cost-effective manner with existing network equipment. www.acacia-inc.com.
