Cleary University Hires Chef Jeffrey Bane to Build New Culinary and Hospitality Management Program

Bane to Also Develop and Manage Food Service Operations Across Campus, Including Events at the Johnson Center

HOWELL, MI--(Marketwired - Mar 29, 2016) - Cleary University today announced the hiring of Chef Jeffrey Bane to lead the university's new culinary and hospitality management programs. The school is planning to officially launch the program in the fall of 2016. Bane will be responsible for building the programming for associate and bachelor's level degrees, in addition to developing and managing campus food service operations, including events at the Johnson Center.

Most recently, Chef Bane was serving as Culinary Division President for The Chef's Academy at Harrison College in Raleigh, N.C. and Indianapolis, IN. He joined The Chef's Academy in 2006 as an instructor. Prior to The Chef's Academy, Chef Bane worked as a resort chef in Deer Valley, Utah, Montana, Alaska, and Sun Valley, Idaho. He also worked for three years at ski resorts in New Zealand, France and Austria.

"Cleary University has built its education programs and reputation on principles of learning through practical experiences," said Jayson Boyers, president of Cleary. "We want our program leaders to build curriculum based on what it will take to help our students be successful in the real world. We are fortunate to have Chef Bane join our university team. He is an award-winning educator who brings extensive expertise gained from renowned resorts, and the understanding of what it takes to manage curriculum and operations in higher education."

Boyers added, "Campus events are going to change dramatically with the addition of Chef Bane and our new program. Cleary's culinary and hospitality management students will gain real-world experience participating in our food services and events as part of their training. Not only will they gain a valuable education, they will also leave school with business-strong skills that will benefit them throughout their careers."

Chef Bane earned his culinary and bachelor's degrees from Johnson & Wales University's Charleston campus. He also earned an associate degree in pastry arts and a master's degree in leadership development from St. Mary of the Woods College. He is an award-winning National Ice Carving Association Certified Ice Carver and a Certified Evaluator for the American Culinary Federation with three designations. Chef Bane was named Harrison College Campus President of the year in 2015.

"There is excitement and enthusiasm for what is happening at Cleary, and a genuine commitment for building bridges to the business world for our students," said Chef Bane. "I appreciate the opportunity to jumpstart a program with the support of passionate leaders who are eager to prepare students with the tools and skills they need to make them better professionals. I have no doubt that our culinary and hospitality management students will be well trained and intensely prepared for future careers in an exciting industry."
