ATLANTA, March 31, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Sharecare, a digital health and wellness engagement platform, has appointed health industry veterans Howard Gruverman and Ken Goulet to scale the company’s rapidly growing employer business. With nearly 30 years serving the benefits industry and a focus on healthcare delivery systems, Gruverman has been appointed Sharecare’s first executive vice president of enterprise; and Goulet will apply his more than 35 years of experience growing and leading large health plan organizations on Sharecare’s board of directors.
“Sharecare is committed to driving disruption without disenfranchising the healthcare system, and central to this mission is enabling people to access all their healthcare information in one place. For that to happen – and for consumer-driven healthcare to succeed - industry players have to work in partnership,” said Jeff Arnold, Sharecare founder and CEO, and chairman of its board of directors. “Howard and Ken both possess a keen understanding of all aspects of the benefits and health care delivery systems, and will be incredibly valuable as we empower employers and insurance providers to better serve the health needs of their populations and leverage digital solutions to scale for the future.”
To join Sharecare, Gruverman departs Wells Fargo as its senior vice president of national accounts where he led the vision and strategy for national service solutions to enable employers to improve their healthcare status, lower overall costs, increase consumer engagement and improve overall workforce productivity. Gruverman has worked with national employers that range from 2,500 to over 500,000 employees, including private equity portfolio initiatives, technology, Fortune 100 and several other industry based programs. He joined Wells Fargo in 2011, when the company acquired EDIFY, which Gruverman started in 1996 and grew into one of the largest privately held healthcare benefits consulting firms in the country. Prior to that, Gruverman spent 11 years at CIGNA Corporation in various positions with responsibilities including account strategy and analysis, underwriting, plan design modeling, vendor relations, profitability, and national accounts.
"Over the course of my career, I have been incredibly fortunate to work for companies whose missions so closely align with my personal goal to make a meaningful impact in healthcare, and Sharecare certainly will not be an exception," said Gruverman. "Jeff has assembled a world class team, critical assets and an overall platform that, together, are solving problems head-on that the industry has struggled with over the last decade. I'm thrilled to bring Sharecare's dynamic and engaging solutions to the enterprise market to drive better health outcomes for companies, as well as their employees and families."
Sharecare’s existing employer business currently includes a range of clients – from large organizations like the Department of Defense to smaller employers, such as the numerous companies enrolled in HCA Virginia’s Workplace Wellness initiative. Launched in October 2014 with Sharecare, Workplace Wellness is yielding record engagement and positive health outcomes: 95% of participants completed Sharecare’s scientifically-validated health risk assessment, the RealAge test; and engaged participants successfully reduced their RealAge by more than nine months on average in the first year.
Most recently Executive Vice President of Commercial and Specialty Business Division at Anthem, Inc., Goulet brings another important dimension to Sharecare’s seasoned board of directors, comprised of key executives from media companies like Hearst Corporation; high-growth technology investment firms such as Claritas Capital; and leading hospital systems including Hospital Corporation of America.
“Sharecare has risen above the hype, and assembled a robust roster of partners, investors and customers which plays a critical role in transforming the healthcare ecosystem – a team I’m proud to join,” said Goulet. “The company’s proven approach to developing innovative and impactful ways to improve health outcomes is inspiring, and I look forward to helping Sharecare penetrate the employer and health plan markets even further.”
Prior to serving in a variety of executive leadership roles at Anthem, Goulet spent 23 years at CIGNA Corporation, where he held several positions in management, sales and operations.
