NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - April 08, 2016) - B&H Photo is pleased to share the announcement of the H6D-100c and H6D-50c medium format DSLR cameras from Hasselblad. Photographers will be able to capture detailed 16-bit raw files with the new 100MP CMOS sensor, which has been measured to provide up to 15 stops of dynamic range, and sensitivities up to ISO 12800. It also boasts a large 53.4 x 40.0mm CMOS sensor that is very close to the traditional 645 film format. The 50MP 43.8 x 32.9 mm CMOS sensor features a rated dynamic range of 14 stops and a maximum ISO of 6400. Both record to Hasselblad's lossless compressed 3FR format, and utilize the Hasselblad Natural Color Solution to present images with exceptional color rendition.
For speed, the H6D implements both CFast and SD card slots, along with a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 Type-C connection for tethering. Also, it has built-in Wi-Fi for connecting wirelessly to a smart device or computer for remote camera control and image previews. There is even a top LCD panel that will provide information at a glance, even when the camera is mounted on a tripod or other support system.

The rear touchscreen LCD benefits from intuitive control, as well as an improved 960k-dot resolution for previewing high-res images. A new live view setting provides a constant view of what the camera sees at 30 fps for previewing what the camera will capture before you release the shutter. The H6D-50c will capture images at a rate of 1.7-2.3 fps. Detailed capture rate information for the H6D-100c is still being awaited.
The H6D system has a range of basic operational features, including flash sync in and out, AC power inputs, a shutter speed range of 60 minutes to 1/2000 second, depending on the lens used, and more. The H6D has an autofocus system with a central cross-type sensor, and a TTL flash system that supports the Metz SCA3002 adapter. Users will have access to multiple metering modes, including spot, center-weighted, and center spot. Additionally, the H6D is compatible with various H System accessories, including the included HVD 90x viewfinder with built-in flash and select film backs. A plus is that the body will support select film backs in addition to modern digital options.

Unique to the H6D-100c is UHD 4K video recording at 30 fps, a first for Hasselblad. This enables videographers to capture video with the very distinct medium format look. Video can be recorded in a proprietary Hasselblad RAW format for maximal quality and a mini-HDMI output and audio in/out ports are available. UHD 4K video is limited to raw recording, while Full HD can be saved to either raw or H.264 compressed video. The H6D-50c shares many of the same video aspects, but can only record a maximum of Full HD at 30 fps.

The entire line of HC and HCD lenses has received an update, with the headline-grabbing feature being an upgraded central shutter system that now allows for shutter speeds up to 1/2000 of a second, even with flash. The twelve H System lenses are fully compatible with the new 100MP sensor, and have a distinguishing orange marking. The lenses are supplied with a limited 2-year or 1,000,000-exposure warranty.

Hasselblad has updated its Phocus software to version 3.0, providing a multitude of new capabilities. Most importantly, the company has added support for its raw video, offering the ability to work with and convert it to edit-friendly Apple ProRes. It utilizes a revamped GUI for simplified and faster workflows, and adds Local Adjustment tools for more control during editing. Automatic moiré detection has also been implemented, and can correct this distortion either globally or locally.
