WILMINGTON, N.C., April 22, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Select Bank & Trust (NASDAQ:SLCT) named W. Keith Betts Regional Executive for the bank’s New Hanover and Brunswick county markets, announced Gary J. Brock, executive vice president and chief banking officer.

Betts will oversee business development for one of Select’s newest markets and work to grow the bank’s market share in Brunswick and New Hanover counties. Betts has 35 years of banking experience, 32 of which he has served in Wilmington. His office will be located in Leland at the branch located on New Pointe Boulevard.

Betts most recently served as President and CEO of a bank in Jacksonville, N.C. Prior to that, he spent more than 30 years in corporate and retail banking, including founding Port City Capital Bank in Wilmington in 2001. He served that bank as President and CEO until the bank sold in 2006. During his tenure as President, the bank was ranked among the state’s top five banks in the North Carolina Bank Performance Report.
Betts earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from St. Andrew Presbyterian College in Laurinburg, N.C.

The Leland branch opened in December 2015 and held a Grand Opening celebration in March. The branch was purchased from Yadkin and the leadership team includes Branch Manager Susan Cruse, who has 26 years in banking and City Executive Nicholas Dyer, who has been in banking 14 years.
