NEW YORK, May 16, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The first ever OpenStack Days - East event will be held in New York City from August 23-24, as a gathering place for anyone wanting to learn more about the OpenStack open source infrastructure as a service (IaaS) from some of the world’s pioneering users and thought leaders.
OpenStack East is expected to draw 500 attendees bringing IT professionals, developers and OpenStack supporters together to share case studies, trends, and plans for the world’s fastest-growing open source project.
This community event is being guided by a steering committee that includes representatives from the east coast OpenStack Meetups and organized by Tesora, along with GigaSpaces.
“The growing number of enterprise and service provider users of OpenStack software in the Northeast highlights the need for a community event like this,” said Jonathan Bryce, executive director of the OpenStack Foundation. “The inaugural OpenStack Day East plans to bring together OpenStack users, software developers and those interested in learning more about the project with opportunities to share experiences and talk directly with OpenStack community members.”
The conference keynote presentations will include financial service, retail and telecommunications companies that have deployed OpenStack, such as Best Buy, Bloomberg LP, Comcast, Walmart, along with Jonathan Bryce, of the OpenStack Foundation. In addition, the conference will include technology panels, networking, and demo sessions from the most notable names in the OpenStack community. Attendees will also have the opportunity to learn about new products, project updates, including a track dedicated to the OpenStack Trove database as a service (DBaaS) project.
The call for sessions is now open for submissions through June 6. The conference organizers are looking for panels and presentations that show deep project knowledge and illustrate real-world applications.
A limited number of early bird registrations are available now for $99, discounted from the regular registration fee of $299. Online registration can be found at www.openstackeast.com/register.
Initial sponsors from the OpenStack ecosystem include Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Dell, GigaSpaces Technologies, OpenStack Foundation, PLUMgrid, Talligent and Tesora. Sponsorship information is available at www.openstackeast.com/sponsors.
“It’s clear that the OpenStack project has reached an inflection point, best exemplified by rapidly accelerating adoption within enterprises and governments worldwide. OpenStack is now a proven part of many of our customers’ transformation to a hybrid infrastructure, and it is becoming a foundational part of their multi-cloud reality,” said Bobby Patrick, chief marketing officer for Hewlett Packard Enterprise, HPE Cloud. “We are looking forward to a high energy event as OpenStack East rolls into Times Square this August. It’s a great opportunity for us as a headline sponsor to deepen engagement with customers and participate with other members of the OpenStack community.”
