Sokol Blosser Winery Debuts Evolution Willamette Valley Pinot Noir

Easy-Drinking Oregon Pinot Noir Suitable for Pairing and Sharing on Any Occasion

DAYTON, OR--(Marketwired - Jun 7, 2016) - Sokol Blosser Winery, one of Oregon's oldest yet most innovative wineries, expands the Evolution line with the launch of a fourth nationally available offering, Evolution Pinot Noir. Easy to drink, pair and share, no matter the food or occasion, the inaugural bottling is Evolution 2014 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir. It's a natural progression for the Evolution wine family given Sokol Blosser's long-standing history as an Oregon pinot noir pioneer.

"We have a great love for making Oregon pinot noir and wanted to share that with our Evolution fans," says co-president and winemaker Alex Sokol Blosser. "Evolution Pinot Noir is produced to be an any-food, anytime, approachable wine, made with 100-percent Willamette Valley pinot noir grapes from the amazing 2014 vintage. Just like us, it doesn't take itself too seriously -- yet is a seriously delicious wine."

Evolution 2014 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (SRP: $20) is the first nationally-distributed, single-varietal wine under the Evolution label. This wine is consistent with the rest of the Evolution wines and is food-friendly, high-quality and affordable. The first bottling released has 6,300 cases and exhibits aromas of bright red fruit with a soft tannic structure and a medium finish. Its flavors are enhanced with a variety of menus, from grilled salmon with dill at a friendly summer gathering to a wood-fired pizza for an easy weeknight dinner.

As a collection, Evolution offers a compelling introduction to wine and Sokol Blosser's winemaking tradition of quality and complexity. "My family has been creating world-class wines for the past 45 years, and our new Evolution Pinot Noir is no exception. Evolution Pinot Noir gives us the chance to share our passion for the pinot noir grape, ready to drink now while you patiently wait for our Sokol Blosser pinot noirs to age gracefully in your cellar," says co-president and CEO Alison Sokol Blosser.

Initially introduced in 1998, Evolution's Lucky No. 9 White wine represented Sokol Blosser's foray into the then niche market for white blends. Thirteen years later, Evolution Big Time Red was launched, and Evolution Brut Sparkling followed in 2013. This year, Evolution Pinot Noir is an extension of the line.

Evolution Pinot Noir is available at select retailers nationwide. For more information about Evolution wines, visit http://www.evolutionwine.com/.
