Finnair Plc Stock Exchange Release 8 June 2016 at 09:00 am EET Number of passengers grew 6.6% year‐on‐year In May, Finnair's overall capacity measured in Available Seat Kilometres grew by 12.5 per cent and traffic measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometres grew by 9.4 per cent year‐on‐year. The passenger load factor declined by 2.1%-points to 72.9 per cent The capacity in Asian traffic grew by 12.1 per cent in April, boosted in particular by the Fukuoka and Guangzhou routes opened during the month, while traffic grew by 6.2 per cent. Meanwhile, capacity in American traffic increased by as much as 116.7 per cent due to the Miami and Chicago routes being operated this year, and traffic measured in RPK by 83.7 per cent. The load factors in long haul traffic declined due to strong capacity increase from new routes. New routes typically have low load factors in the beginning of the traffic season. The capacity in European traffic grew by 3.2 per cent, and traffic increased by 4.4 per cent year‐on‐year. At the same time, the capacity in domestic traffic grew by 3.8 per cent and traffic by 6.0 per cent year‐on‐year. In May, the cargo capacity in scheduled traffic measured in Available Tonne Kilometres grew by 13.8 per cent, and Revenue Tonne Kilometres increased by 21.3 per cent year on year. In addition, Finnair’s total freight capacity includes two weekly freighter flights between Helsinki and Brussels and two weekly freighter flights shared with IAG between Helsinki and London, both operated by DHL. In May, 91.9 per cent of all Finnair flights arrived on schedule (91.0). Traffic statistics for June 2016 will be published on Friday, 8 July 2016.
