PETERSBURG, VA--(Marketwired - Jun 27, 2016) - Pamplin Historical Park founder and owner Robert B. Pamplin Jr. invites teachers to learn more about the Civil War through classes, lectures and hands-on activities at two Teacher Institutes. These forums are hosted at the park in June and July.
"Pamplin Historical Park is honored to offer this opportunity to teachers and in turn, their students," said Dr. Pamplin. "This is an opportunity to bring the Civil War alive for new generations and we aim to equip teachers with new and exciting ways to present this significant historical time to their students."
The theme for the first session offered June 27 through July 1 is "Practical Applications for Teaching Slavery, the Civil War and Reconstruction" and costs $199. The second, shorter session runs July 27 through 29 and is centered around "The Old South and Slavery: Relevance for Today" and is $125. Both sessions run from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day and offer the opportunity for participants to earn Virginia Department of Education professional development points.
