LINDON, Utah, June 30, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Low VA Rates hosted its 8th annual charity golf tournament in Fox Hollow Golf Course in American Fork, Utah, on Thursday, June 23. More than $8000 was raised at the annual event, which is a fundraiser for veterans and their families.
Low VA Rates PR Director Craig Walton said the event was a highlight of the company calendar. "Low VA Rates strives to give back to as many veteran and military families as we can, and this charity golf tournament is one of our main events of the year," he said. "I have had the privilege to be involved in all eight charity golf tournaments, and each year we have improved and received more donations. We appreciate all those that play and sponsor our golf tournaments."
Each year, donors of all backgrounds to are invited by Low VA Rates to donate directly to veterans—and they have fun in the process. The tournament usually raises thousands of dollars for the families of veterans and active-duty service members. This year, through entry fees and additional contributions of the 116 attending golfers, Low VA Rates was able to crack the $8000 fundraising mark. On the course, prizes were handed out following the spirited golf competition.
This event wasn't the only recent golf tournament featuring Low VA Rates.
On Friday, June 17, Elevate Mortgage Group (a division of Low VA Rates) participated in the 15th Annual Tooele County Association of Realtors Golf Tournament. In April, Elevate added a new branch in Tooele, Utah, and the company was thrilled to be a part of the local realtor community event. The tournament included a combination of various local home loan and realty businesses, and each sponsored a different hole. Elevate manned the 9th hole and contributed to the fun atmosphere with a small tent and a game of corn hole, as well as handing out golf balls, water, and other goodies.
Several Elevate employees were born and raised in Tooele, including Regional Manager Amy Blauser, who said it was "fun having a connection to my home town." Almost all golf participants knew each other and even though most players were not seasoned golfers, the priority was to connect, socialize, and have fun. All proceeds from the event contributed to funds for the Association of Realtors.
