ACGME to Host July 13 Webinar About Physician Well-Being

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - July 08, 2016) - The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) is hosting a webinar entitled "Combating Burnout, Promoting Physician Well-being: Building Blocks for a Healthy Learning Environment in GME" on Wednesday, July 13 from 1-2 p.m. Central time featuring Lyuba Konopasek, MD and Carol Bernstein, MD.

The FREE webinar is part of the ACGME's Summer Spotlight Webinar Series, which highlights the top-rated sessions from its 2016 Annual Educational Conference.

Webinar Description:
Physician stress, burnout, and depression are serious problems across the continuum of medical education. The prevalence of death by suicide among physicians is significantly higher than in the general population. It is critical that we think strategically about how to promote physician well-being and address mental health issues in training programs. After a brief introduction on the topics of burnout, resilience, and identifying residents at risk, the speakers will identify stressors and potential solutions to addressing these issues in clinical learning environments. Next, they will introduce a structured tool to help participants complete an initial needs assessment in order to facilitate the development of new initiatives to address resident well-being in their own institutions. Finally, speakers will focus on identifying curricular innovations, coaching and mentoring strategies, and faculty development activities.
