Apprio Names Vice President of Military and Veteran Healthcare

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Jul 25, 2016) -  Apprio, a leading provider of specialized technology solutions, particularly for the health, defense and homeland security markets, today announced the appointment of Eric Huweart as its new vice president of military and veteran healthcare, overseeing the company's support to the Military Health System and Defense Health Agency.

Huweart will lead Apprio's teams supporting military and veteran programs -- teams performing a broad variety of technical and program management duties to help these healthcare agencies operate more efficiently and more effectively support their beneficiaries. Apprio's work includes activities ranging from building common technical models for these agencies to share electronic health records, to supporting the financial underpinnings of large technical programs to ensure the programs deliver on their missions within their budgets.

Huweart brings more than 24 years of military healthcare management experience to Apprio. Most recently, he was chief of staff for the Military Health System Chief Information Officer. Additionally, he served as a colonel in the United States Air Force Medical Services Corp. In this role, he had numerous leadership positions at the clinic, hospital, medical center and headquarters level including chief operating officer for the Pope AFB Medical Clinic and the Air Force Medical Service deputy chief information officer.

Huweart earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biomedical engineering from Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, and master's degrees in healthcare administration and business administration from the University of Florida, Gainesville. He is a member of the Health Information Management Systems Society and is a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS).
