DENVER, Aug. 01, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Butler Snow is pleased to announce that former Speaker of the Colorado House of Representatives, Terrance D. Carroll has joined the firm’s Denver office. Carroll, an experienced transactional attorney, will work with the business services and government relations groups.

Carroll’s experience includes corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures and divestitures, regulatory and legislative policy, general corporate law and crisis management. He has served as a legal counsel for a variety of companies in highly regulated industries including the energy and health care sectors.
Carroll has most recently served as associate general counsel at SCL Health, where he led the company’s corporate governance initiatives and facilitated its complex business transactions. During his tenure, Carroll helped cement a joint operating agreement with a nationally recognized respiratory hospital, and was lead counsel for the corporate restructuring of the physician practice enterprise, among other notable accomplishments.
From 2003 until 2011, Carroll represented House District 7 as a Colorado State Representative and served as Speaker of the House for the 67th General Assembly. Prior to serving as Speaker, he was the Assistant House Majority Leader, and Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. While in the legislature, he was considered a respected negotiator with a critical role in the enactment of education reform legislation and a major overhaul of Colorado’s election laws. Carroll was also an adjunct professor at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law.
Carroll was included in 5280 Magazine's list of 50 most influential people in Denver and has been recognized as a Power Book Industry Leader in Law by the Denver Business Journal. He has been named as one of the Lawyers of the Year by Law Week Colorado, a Rising Star by Colorado Super Lawyers and in the Chambers & Partners USA Guide.
Carroll is admitted to practice in Colorado, the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado and U.S. Court of Appeals for the 10th Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, Denver Bar Association and Sam Cary Bar Association. Carroll received his undergraduate degree from Morehouse College and his masters of divinity from Iliff School of Theology. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Denver.
