As a young child, Logan’s favorite activity was using his parent’s bed as a trampoline. When the bed finally broke, the Dooley family invested in a trampoline for the backyard. “This is where it all began, and it truly was one of the best investments we have ever made,” said his mother, Nancy Dooley, “and for the next twenty years, Logan would strive to be the best in his sport.”

Twice – in 2008 and 2012 – Logan served as the alternate to the U.S. Olympic trampoline team. As a young Prentice student, Logan’s strong will and determination were key factors in learning to cope with what he called his ‘Dyslexia Thing.’ Despite the fact that he struggled every day to read and write in his own native language, Logan was steadfast in his desire to master new ways to ‘learn how to learn’ under the specialized guidance of his Prentice teachers.
“As a child with dyslexia, Logan knew he had to work harder than most kids,” said Nancy, “and when that work ethic was rewarded by his Prentice mentors, his self-confidence was renewed and strengthened. There’s no doubt that Logan took that renewed sense of confidence and determination with him from the Prentice classroom to the trampoline.”
At a “Send-Off” party held last week at the Dooley home, Lake Forest Mayor Andrew Hamilton, Orange County Board of Supervisors representatives Carolyn McInerny and Cecilia Hong, as well as a representative of U.S. Congresswoman Mimi Walters’ office presented proclamations of recognition to Logan as their send-off gifts.
Following the summer Olympics, Logan will perform in the 2016 Kellogg’s Tour of Gymnastics Champions. After the tour, The Prentice School looks forward to having Logan back on campus for a celebration assembly to recognize his success, and to motivate and encourage the Prentice students. “Having Logan return to Prentice and speak to the students will make a difference in their lives,” said Alicia Maciel, Executive Director of The Prentice School. “The Prentice Community will be cheering for him as he competes in the Olympics.”
